The big 1.0.

This is the first public upload of Gemlings, a small project I started working on slowly after graduating. Please excuse the rough art, I’m an engineer at heart 😄. Now that I’ve graduated, I want to start uploading more content over time, and who knows, maybe one day this grows into its own little company.

Gemlings is inspired by those cozy “corner of the screen” games like Cornerpond and Rusty’s Retirement. I loved the idea of something you can leave running in the background and occasionally check in on. Watching the gems pile up over time is surprisingly fun, though you do need to interact a bit. If you don’t upgrade your Gemling’s mining strength, you won’t reach the higher-tier gems (especially the mythics).

Originally, I planned to release this game with a lot more content. However, the project started leaning more toward art than I intended, so I decided to release it early and move on to new projects where I can focus more on the technical side of development.

Gemlings is a simple game. It might be finished, or I might revisit it if inspiration strikes, but for now, what you see is what you get. I enjoyed making it, and I hope at least a few people get a bit of enjoyment out of this silly little project too.
